This is the 2nd year Primary Care Topics for Every Day Practice is offered.  It is a one day course designed for the family medicine physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner and nurses.  This course will provide attendees with current and relevant updates for daily care and management of a variety of patient health concerns in primary care.

Target Audience

This course is designed for Primary Care (Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics Physicians (M.D. or D.O.), PAs and NPs.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Review the current literature regarding indications, efficacy and safety of cannaboioid
  • Review the current Minnesota Medical Cannabis program and your role as a medical provider
  • Describe how to screen and diagnose pediatric amblyopia and strabismus as a primary care provider
  • Review the ARRIVE, ASCEND and ASPREE trials (regarding aspirin use for cardiovascular prevention)
  • Identify differing professional organization recommendations for the use of aspirin for primary prophylaxis of heart disease
  • Review important opioid risk assessment tools when initiating, continuing or when considering tapering opioid in patients with chronic non-cancer related pain on chronic opioid therapy
  • Formulate a comprehensive differential diagnosis for vulvar pruritus
  • Describe surveillance needs for breast implants
  • Identify the clinical presentation of normal pressure hydrocephalus.
