New to the Mayo Clinic Infectious Diseases Practice Updates this year is an additional session focused on antimicrobial stewardship. This session provides updates on antimicrobial stewardship across a wide array of healthcare settings, including inpatient practice, tele-stewardship, and stewardship in outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT) programs and ambulatory care. Additionally, the session highlights specific opportunities for antimicrobial stewardship interventions, such as collaboration in the microbiology laboratory, use of MRSA nasal swabs for vancomycin de-escalation, and syndromic stewardship targets (i.e., UTI/ASB and gram-negative infections).
Target Audience
This course is relevant for infectious diseases specialists, infectious diseases trainees, internists, pharmacists, hospitalists, and clinical infectious diseases researchers. The content will also benefit physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, family physicians and clinical microbiologists with interest in managing patients with infections.
