DESCRIPTION

Nephrology Hypertension Grand Rounds - This series is held weekly on Tuesday, 7:30 - 8:30 a.m.

Consultants, fellows and visiting professors present a 45 minute discussion topic which is intended to be a comprehensive review after which there is a 10-15 minute period for questions.  These "state-of-the-art" lectures are directed at the faculty and fellow level.  

TARGET AUDIENCE
The audience is primarily the physicians in our division, but all members of the division, i.e. nurses, NP/PAs and allied health staff are encouraged to attend.  We advertise the Grand Rounds title and speaker name throughout the institution which allows other areas/divisions to attend if they wish.  

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Integrate recent developments in Nephrology and Hypertension to their current practice.  
  • Summarize rationale for drug treatment choices based on advances in clinical trials.
  • Review basic mechanisms of disease and determine potential treatment target.
  • Debate with colleagues best practices and current standard of care.
  • Compare and critique various diagnostic as well as treatment strategies in Nephrology and Hypertension.
