Learning Objectives
Upon conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Define core executive functions as working memory, cognitive flexibility, and inhibition
- Disambiguate executive functions from emotional and social functions and frontal lobe anatomy
- Separate the anatomy of executive processes from the anatomy of what is being processed
- Explain the role of imaging and fluid biomarkers in the evaluation of younger onset dementia
- Recognize that AD can present as a progressive dysexecutive syndrome in younger individuals predominantly impact the parietal lobe, but is frequently misdiagnosed as psychiatric or by FTD
