DESCRIPTION
- This series is only available to members of the Mayo Clinic Care Network. Mayo staff members are not eligible to participate in this series.
- Mayo staff can only participate in the live series. The live sessions occur weekly on Friday, 12:15 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.
The Neurology subspecialty conference is a weekly conference presented by various subspecialists in a rotating fashion from within Department of Neurology, residents and fellows. The areas encompassed include sleep, multiple sclerosis/autoimmune neurology, neurologic education, child neurology, speech pathology, neuro-ophthalmology, behavioral neurology, movement disorders, epilepsy, neuro-oncology, muscle disorders and peripheral nervous systems diseases.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This course is intended for physicians, mid-level health care providers, nurses, and medical students.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon conclusion of this activity, learners should be able to:
- Identify and implement treatment of migraine and related headache
- Identify epilepsy patients who are surgical candidates
- Describe the molecular pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease
- Correctly segregate multiple sclerosis patients into appropriate treatments
- Identify which patients are eligible for brain tumor protocols
- Interpret paraneoplastic antibody test results
- Recognize the differences between different forms of myopathy
- Recognize how new advances in molecular neurosciences have changed ideas about how the brain works
