TITLE:  "Pregnancy and Parenting in Emergency Medicine"

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Understand the heightened risk associated with being pregnant while practicing emergency medicine
  • Appreciate the impact that night shift work has on pregnant mothers
  • Recognize the differences in how new moms and dads utilize paternal leave allowances
  • Articulate the discordance between desire to nurse a new baby and actual follow through as well as the factors that contribute to this
  • Motivate to push departments and institutions to do more to support physician parents in each of the stages of the process
