Session 2: Common Elbow Injuries in Athletes

Elbow injuries are common in athletes, especially in throwing sports. Daniel Montero, M.D. will review the relevant anatomy, risk factors for injury, indications for procedures, surgery and recommended surgical options. Thomas Berger, P.T., C.H.T., D.P.T. will discuss nonoperative and post-operative rehabilitation strategies and exercise with the goal of returning the athlete to sport.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify common elbow injuries and differential diagnosis
  • Determine treatment options for common elbow injuries, including lateral and medial epicondylitis
  • Summarize common return to play scenarios
