The modern care of patients who suffer from challenging clinical spine-related conditions requires a multidisciplinary team approach. Mayo Clinic's Spino-Plastic Reconstruction Symposium provides spine surgeons from neurosurgery and orthopedic and plastic surgeons the latest advances and innovations in spinal surgery. Topics include, pedicled bone grafting, free tissue transfer, allograft and autograft arthrodesis, and newer spino-plastics frontiers. The format is case-based, panel discussions, and a surgical demonstration. The symposium highlights the latest procedures in spinal surgery and plastic surgery technologies.
Target Audience
Physicians, fellows, residents, physician assistants, and nurses/nurse practitioners specializing in surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, and plastic surgery.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Identify the shortcomings of current techniques in spinal fusion.
- Review the latest surgical techniques in the management of revision spine surgery patients.
- Describe evolving management strategies of new surgical techniques in cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine indications.
- Use knowledge gained to improve wound infection and complication rates after spine surgery procedures.
- Describe team-based, multidisciplinary strategies for spinal care.
