DESCRIPTION
This monthly education lecture series will involve formal presentations in the areas of practice, research, and policy relevant to the social work profession. This education series will provide continued education to increased knowledge and skills necessary to provide the highest quality of care to patients and their families. There was positive feedback from the 2023 RSS with the only complaint that staff were not able to attend in real time but still interested in topics and credit.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity is appropriate for nurse, nurse practitioner, pharmacist, physician, physician assistant, resident fellow.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Identify the spectrum of domestic and sexual violence (DSV) and the legal pathways for patients.
- Summarize the legal obligations of clinicians and Mayo Clinic policies related to DSV/DV/IPV enterprise wide.
- Determine best practices for screening and assessing for domestic violence and intimate partner violence in medical settings.
- Analyze the effects on patient-survivors of DSV who are navigating the medical system.
- Reflect on the abilities and limitations of clinicians in the medical setting when working with survivors and their families.
