Session date:
01/27/2025 - 6:45am to 7:30am

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • State the 3 domains of PICS. List several specific diagnoses and symptoms within each. State the approximate frequency of core domains of PICS in a way that is understandable to a patient, including the approximate frequency patients lose the ability to perform ADLs after critical illness, and the approximate frequency patients develop PTSD after critical illness

  • Summarize cognitive changes that often  happen after critical illness and identify the approximate frequency of these changes. Additionally, state the biggest ICU risk factor for cognitive decline, and list at least 3 ways to minimize the risk of it occurring

  • List ICU practices that may decrease the risk of PICS. Specifically, describe how sedation practices may contribute including the depth of sedation, sedation breaks/holidays, and choice of sedative medication

  • Outline the ICU Liberation Bundle and state how you will integrate the bundle into your clinical practice.
