PRESENTATION TITLE
Meaning & Medicine
PRESENTER
Jon Tilburt, M.D.
PRESENTER BIO
Jon Tilburt is a physician, thinker, writer, and ethicist at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix. In his integrative medicine practice, he refines the art of presence and the power of listening with patients suffering from a range of chronic conditions. In the scholarly world, he is a trusted mentor, and proficient grant writer. His research portfolio explores how the beliefs, values, and worldviews of patients intersect with the beliefs, values, and worldviews of clinicians and healthcare organizations. In more recent creative non-fiction writing, he’s been exploring the contours and interrelationships among suffering, honesty, wonder, and connection (and their absences) in industrialized healthcare.
