- Describe the general principles governing interactions between gut resident microbes and humans.
- Identify the numerous facets of human biology that are influenced by the gut microbiota in health and disease
- Define the factors that can alter the microbiota in everyday life, including the many insults of the modern world (e.g., antibiotics, low-fiber diet) that directly impact microbiota composition and function.
- Discuss the incorporation of the gut microbiota into precision medicine and future integration of gut microbiota into new treatment modalities.
