Learning Objectives:
- Define the ways in which high sensitivity cardiac troponin assays different from the prior cardiac troponin assays used clinically at the Mayo Clinic
- Employ the advantages of high sensitivity cardiac troponin testing in the evaluation of patients with possible acute myocardial infarction
- Diagnose the different types of myocardial infarctions that can now be recognized with the use of high sensitivity cardiac troponin testing
- Identify those situations where caution is necessary in interpreting high sensitivity high cardiac troponin values
