Pathways to Physician Diversity: A National Summit 2020

This summit is designed to encourage a national conversation on current challenges and future solutions by involving a national group of stakeholders in exploring the current state of the access pathway for underrepresented students in medical education. Participants will engage in deconstructing the MD/MD-PhD pathway to identify ways to increase diversity in medicine.

Abstracts
EXTENDED DEADLINE - As part of the Pathways to Physician Diversity: A National Summit 2020 course, we will host a networking and poster session for presentation of original research dedicated to diversity in the medical education pipeline. The extended deadline for abstracts is February 3, 2020. At least one of the authors must attend the conference. Target Audience
This course is designed for physicians, administrators (including nursing), academics (e.g., academic medical school deans, counselors, and teachers from community colleges and high schools) and community organizations working on diversity pipelines.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Review evidence that defines the diversity pathway for physicians and physician scientists
- Identify and share best practices for expanding the medical education pathway while also exploring novel strategies that aim to prepare students to pursue these careers
- Develop proceedings from the conference presentations and discussion inclusive of identified goals, targets and an ongoing mechanism for monitoring and reporting outcomes
- Develop plans to collaborate with furthering diversity in the medical education pathway

Parking
Parking is available in multiple lots near the Cannaday Building at no charge, as well as in the Mayo patient/visitor ramp adjacent to the Davis Building on Mayo Boulevard at $5 per day on Friday and no charge on Saturday or Sunday. The cost for parking is not included in the registration fee.

Cancellation and Refund Policy:
Request for cancellations must be submitted in writing to cme@mayo.edu. When cancelling a registration for a course 14 days or more before the course start date, a full refund (minus a $75 administrative fee) will be issued in the same form of payment the registration was received. No refunds are granted less than 14 days before the course start date.
