Learning Objectives
- Demonstrate how clinicians might more effectively work with transgender and gender non-conforming youth, serving as “translators” for their families.
- Highlight clinician struggles to comprehend and make sense of gender angst, so that they are better able to bridge the potential chasm between a child and their parent or guardian.
- Examine the complexities of the non-binary child, and the challenge to families and clinicians in working with children who defy gendered categorization & assigned natal gender.
- Consider how ASD might impact clinical presentation.
