SESSION DESCRIPTION
In this CME webinar, Mayo Clinic experts will discuss common causes and treatment of rotator cuff tearing. Bradley S. Schoch, M.D. will review the relevant anatomy, indications for surgery, role for physical/occupational therapy (both non-operative and operative), postoperative protocols, and rationale for postoperative lifting restriction. James C. Braxton, O.T., C.H.T. will then review therapy protocols and how to incorporate therapy in restrictions into patient's daily lives.
SESSION LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Differentiate differences in rotator cuff tearing and pathoanatomy patterns as they impact surgical and nonsurgical decision making (Domain 2, Task 0204 & 0205)
- Compare the role of different therapy restrictions during the rehabilitation process and improve rehabilitation strategies through surgeon-therapist communication (Domain 4, Task 0401 & 0406)
- Design a time line for safe progression of ROM and strengthening post-surgically (Domain 4, Task 0407)
