DESCRIPTION
This is an ongoing, multidisciplinary educational series that addresses best practices in cancer care for patients with head and neck, dermatologic, breast, lung, and other selected sites. Sessions will be posted below with more details on dates and locations.
- Breast Cancer Conference meets the 1st, 3rd and 5th Fridays (changed to Thursdays) of each month from noon to 1 p.m.
- Lung/Head & Neck Cancer Conference meets the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month from noon to 1 p.m.
- General Cancer Conference meets the 1st Tuesday 7 - 8 a.m. (previously held the 2nd Monday of each month from noon to 1 p.m.)
- Cutaneous Oncology Working Group meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 7-8 a.m.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This course is intended for general practitioners, family medicine practitioners, residents, specialists including pulmonologists, medical oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, radiation oncologists, head and neck surgeons and general surgeons. The topics are also beneficial for NP, PA, SW, Palliative Care, Cancer Registrar, and Genetics.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- explain how to appropriately refer patients internally with newly diagnosed cancer to the indicated specialist.
- identify the role of the major specialties in providing primary treatment, diagnosis, and ancillary care for patients with cancer
- stage the extent of the patient's cancer accurately
- describe appropriate resources to guide next diagnostic and therapeutic intervention
- select appropriate timeline and correct patient selection for genetic testing
