This annual course is designed for primary care physicians/practitioners, general internists, gynecologists, specialists in preventative care, and other health care professionals interested in women’s health.

During the three-day update, faculty members will address the unique needs of female patients and their health care providers. Participants will gain a comprehensive insight into relevant medical problems uniquely found in women, as well as a basic approach to addressing and improving their common health concerns.

Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Determine impact of breast density on mammographic interpretation and accuracy
  • Apply current knowledge to provide the best care for breast cancer survivors
  • Apply current knowledge about exercise and the impact on obesity
  • Recognize new risk factors for cardiovascular disease in women
  • Manage aspects of hypertension unique in women
  • Construct a management plan for irritable bowel syndrome in women
  • Employ patient-centered interviewing techniques when gathering sexual history in women
  • Compare new therapies in menopause management
  • Manage contraceptive needs of the perimenopausal patient
  • Recognize urinary symptoms related to pelvic floor disorder
