Point of Care Ultrasound Workshop

This hands-on experience teaches providers bedside applications of portable ultrasound. During a series of hands-on sessions, participants practice capturing specific ultrasound views on live models under the guidance of experienced faculty. The hands-on sessions are complemented by didactic lectures to improve the participants’ knowledge of the indications, technical skills, and clinical integration of bedside ultrasound.

Target Audience

This course is designed to provide an overview of the most recent advances in anesthesiology management, pharmacology and wellness within the anesthesia community.   

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this workshop the participants will be able to: 

  • Describe the role of bedside transthoracic echocardiography in assessing left ventricular function
  • Discuss the signs of pneumothorax with lung ultrasound
  • Review the ultrasound image characteristics of a fluid-filled stomach
