The Mayo Clinic Symposium on Anesthesia and Perioperative Medicine provides learners with the most current and practical information relevant for those with an interest in clinical anesthesiology and perioperative medicine. Key focus areas of the symposium include the anesthesia team as the perioperative leader, preoperative evaluation, system improvements via a team model, surgical pathways, and innovative ideas for the complex patient. An additional learning opportunity includes an ultrasound workshop centered around regional blocks. Learners benefit from interactive sessions, case-based discussions, and connection with real-world anesthesia and surgery experts.
Target Audience
This course is designed for anesthesiologists, nurse anesthetists, anesthesia techs, registered nurses, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Discuss patient management within the context of a preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative continuum of care
- Review clinical decision making associated with complex surgical cases
- Examine aspects of perioperative management in ambulatory and non-operating room settings
- Discuss new surgical techniques and multidisciplinary perioperative pathways being utilized at Mayo Clinic
