DESCRIPTION

The Autopsy Conference will meet quarterly and is open to Internal Medicine Residents, Fellows & Chiefs; Internal Medicine faculty; Surgical Pathology fellows; Pathology Assistants; Pathology Faculty; visiting students/residents/fellows who are on internal medicine or pathology rotations. 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Identify the possible causes of death that may not be readily apparent clinically in the patient.
  2. Integrate unexpected findings at autopsy during the conference by consulting with the internal medicine residents/fellows.
  3. Assess the medical care that was given and determine if a change could have been made with the additional information received at autopsy.
  4. Formulate a plan to integrate the unexpected findings in future care of patients.
