Learning Objectives:

  • Evaluate the association of metabolic syndrome with cancer incidence and cancer mortality.
  • Examine potential casual mechanisms of metabolic syndrome and cancer incidence and progression including insulin resistance, altered hormonal signaling, and systemic inflammation.
  • Assess therapeutic and dietary-lifestyle interventions to prevent and reverse known metabolic risk factors.
