PRESENTER BIO
Jeffrey M. Trent, Ph.D., F.A.C.M.G.G. is the President and Research Director of the non-profit Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen), an affiliate of the City of Hope Medical Center. His faculty career began at the University of Arizona Cancer Center in Tucson, AZ, where he was the Deputy Director and Director of Basic Sciences, the same positions he later held at The University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He left Michigan with Dr. Francis Collins to establish the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where he served as the Founding Scientific Director until the completion of the Human Genome Project. Leaving the NIH to establish TGen, his research has ranged from the study of melanoma, rare cancers of childhood, as well as the deep interrogation of genomic alterations within underserved populations including Native American Indians of the Southwest.
