PRESENTER BIO
Jon Tilburt, M.D., is a Professor of Medicine and Biomedical Ethics who transferred to us in General Internal Medicine from Rochester in August 2020. A board- certified internist and a clinician Investigator, Jon writes and conducts research studies pertaining to the secret sauce of Mayo Clinic - relationships. He first joined Mayo Clinic in 2008. His research addresses a broad range of psychosocial dimensions of cancer care delivery, health disparities and bioethics with funding from NCCIH, NIMHD, and NIA. He has collaborated with a variety of oncology specialists, is a member of the Cancer Center’s Population Sciences Program and is a member of the Disparities and Cancer Care Delivery Committees of the Alliance research base. This fall he and co-PI Andrea Cheville (RST, PM&R) were awarded a 4 year, 6 million-dollar NIH UH3 grant for the NOHARM trial – devoted to integrating non-pharmacological pain care in peri-operative care delivery. Dr. Tilburt will practice in consultative General Internal Medicine and Integrative Medicine. He will also serve as a catalyst for group scholarship, be a key mentor for care delivery researchers. He is also hoping to help us achieve our 2030 goals and will serve as a liaison with the Department of Medicine on how to cultivate scholarship. He and his wife Jackie have 4 kids, and live adjacent to the Phoenix Mountain Preserve trailhead near 40th and Shea.
