PRESENTER BIO
Katharine A. R. Price, M.D. is an Associate Professor of Oncology and the co-chair of the Head and Neck Cancer Disease Group at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.  She graduated from Mayo Medical School in 2003 and completed her Internal Medicine residency through the Mayo Graduate School of Medical Education. After her oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center she returned to Mayo Clinic Rochester as a head and neck medical oncologist.  In addition to her work in oncology, she is the Diversity and Inclusion Leader for Medical Oncology and is co-leading the efforts in the Midwest to decrease health disparities and increase access to cancer clinical trials for minority and underserved populations.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

• Review the indications, benefits, and safety of the HPV vaccine.
• Recognize the clinical presentation of HPV-associated oropharynx cancer and review the epidemiology of oral HPV infection and HPV oropharynx cancer.
• Summarize the known vaccination rates and health disparities in HPV vaccination.
• Employ strategies to increase uptake of the HPV vaccine by patients and their families based on published date of barriers and facilitators of vaccine acceptance.
