TITLE:

NON-CARDIAC SURGERY IN THE CARDIAC PATIENT: FOCUS ON ISCHEMIC HEART DISEASE

 

OBJECTIVES:

  •  Describe the current approach to clinical risk stratification before noncardiac surgery;

  •  Review the role of preoperative stress testing and current ACC/AHA guideline recommendations;

  •  Discuss the use of perioperative beta-blocker therapy, rationale and risks.
