Old Dog, New Tricks: PCSK9 and New Concepts in Hypertension

Learning Objectives:

1. Describe indications, limitations and payer approval process for PCSK9 monoclonal antibodies

2. Analyze challenges in determining accurate blood pressure and the diagnosis of hypertension.

3. Evaluate latest research with conflicting recommendations for target blood pressure.

4. Demonstrate the role of PCSK9 monoclonal antibody therapy in lipid management.

5. Examine the enrollment process for PCSK9 monoclonal antibody therapy and review the obstacles related to prior authorization from the insurance company.
