Cardiology Update: The Heart of the Matter 2018 offers a wide spectrum of topics in congestive heart failure/pulmonary hypertension, coronary artery diseases, cardiac arrhythmias, preventive cardiology, sports cardiology and valvular heart disease, among others. This course is intended for health care professionals in the following specialties: practicing adult cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, cardiovascular trainees, general internists, family medicine specialists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and nurses with a cardiovascular interest.
Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
- Review indications, use, and limitation of different types of anticoagulants in a diverse spectrum of cardiovascular diseases.
- Explain the current indications and contra-indications for TAVR, mitral valve clip and potential new indications for percutaneous tricuspid valve replacement.
- Apply the latest hypertension and cardiovascular (CV) guidelines to improve overall morbidity/mortality rates.
- Describe practice changes to improve care for patients with congenital heart disease.
- Summarize guidelines to increase preventive care for patients with CV diseases.
- Review issues related to cardiovascular adaptations to exercise.
- Identify cardiovascular conditions of risk for the practice of competitive sports.
- Apply current guidelines for the treatment of congestive heart failure (CHF) and atrial fibrillation (AF).
- Describe clinical features of primary pulmonary arterial hypertension.

Sedona Rouge is located approximately 6 miles from the Enchantment at 2250 West State Route 89A, Sedona, AZ 86336.
We have reserved a limited block of guest rooms at the Sedona Rouge as an overflow option for attendees with a special rate of $168 (plus tax) single or double occupancy per night. Group rates will be extended up to 3 days prior and 3 days following the course dates, based on room type and rate availability. There is a $25 charge for each adult after two in the same room. Children under age 17 stay in the same room with parents at no additional charge as long as the maximum occupancy in the room does not exceed four.
The resort fee of $25 per room, per day will be waived and attendees are offered 10% off any spa treatments. Please identify yourself as a part of the Mayo Clinic Group when making reservations to receive the special group rates.

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 4.75 medical knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
Participation information will be shared with ABIM through PARS.
Participants can earn up to 22.50 ANCC nursing contact hours commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
