Target Audience

This course is designed for physical and occupational therapists, certified lymphedema therapists, podiatrists, nutritionists, and a wide range of medical providers, including physicians (osteopathic and allopathic), residents, fellows, advanced practice nurses, and physician assistants, in the specialties of plastic and reconstructive surgery, vascular medicine, physical medicine and rehabilitation, breast surgery, and radiology, as well as other healthcare professionals dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of lymphedema.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Interpret advanced lymphatic and central lymphatic imaging to identify leaks, dysfunction, and complex abnormalities
  • Differentiate lymphedema, lipedema, lymphatic malformations, and phlebolymphedema using current diagnostic criteria
  • Identify effective nonsurgical strategies for complex edema, including compression, textured fabrics, and wound‑focused care
  • Describe normal lymphatic anatomy and functionality
  • Summarize indications and outcomes for advanced lymphatic surgical procedures
  • Apply interdisciplinary and inpatient management approaches to improve outcomes in complex lymphatic conditions
  • Review emerging research, genetic findings, and new imaging technologies influencing lymphatic care
