Frederick Rivera, M.D.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe how QTc trajectories over time, rather than a single QTc measurement, relate to breakthrough cardiac events in congenital LQTS
  • Identify the added prognostic value of polygenic susceptibility for dynamic risk stratification in genotype-positive LQTS patients
  • Review the pathophysiology of myocardial remodeling in aortic stenosis and the rationale for SGLT2 inhibitor therapy following aortic valve replacement
  • Evaluate the current evidence on SGLT2 inhibitors and cardiovascular outcomes after aortic valve replacement
  • Describe how the TAPSE/RVSP ratio reflects right ventricular to pulmonary artery coupling and why it adds to TAPSE alone in patients undergoing percutaneous mitral valve intervention
  • Describe the association between preprocedural RV to PA uncoupling and long-term all-cause mortality after percutaneous mitral valve intervention and assess whether it differs by sex or procedure type
  • Compare the prognostic performance of TAPSE/RVSP with TAPSE and RVSP as individual and combined predictors of mortality
  • Apply TAPSE/RVSP as a complementary marker for preprocedural risk stratification and heart team decision making, recognizing its limitations
