  1. Identify the mechanisms whereby increased renal sympathetic nerve activity on renal nerve effectors could cause hypertension.
  2. Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of published clinical trials.
  3. Emphasize the design of ongoing trials and technical issues that should clarify whether renal denervation has an established role in clinical practice or not.
