The Center for Individualized Medicine Grand Rounds lecture series is designed to highlight the latest in scientific discovery and innovation in translating Individualized Medicine to meet current and future patient needs.  The audience will consist of staff physicians and researchers, residents and fellows, genetic counselors, and allied health staff. Grand Rounds is scheduled the second Thursday of every month and is webcast to locations throughout the Mayo Clinic enterprise, reaching hundreds of individuals in Rochester, Minnesota; Jacksonville, Florida and Scottsdale, Arizona.

Session Objectives:

After the presentation, attendees will be able to:

1. Recognize known genetic bases of early onset familial Alzheimer’s disease and frontotemporal lobar degeneration
2. Discuss genomic associations of young onset dementia in patients lacking a known genetic cause
3. Summarize the clinical experience with incorporating genomic testing and disclosure of results to patients/families with unexplained young onset dementia
4. Identify knowledge gaps in relating genomic findings to clinical outcomes based upon the preliminary results of this small pilot study
5. Discuss public preferences and expectations of predictive testing (genetic and biomarker) for Alzheimer’s disease
