DESCRIPTION
This course targets the Clinical Athletic Trainer in an outpatient orthopedic practice, and similar healthcare-related professions, by discussing pertinent topics, technical skills, emerging trends and diagnoses, and cutting-edge technology and treatments being utilized in a Sports Medicine setting. This course provides innovative and engaging content by rotating presenters monthly, with content being presented by Allied Health and physician colleagues.
TARGET AUDIENCE
Clinical Athletic Trainers, others with an interest or connection to athletic training are also welcome.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
- Recognize common and uncommon musculoskeletal ailments and general medical conditions that may present to the physician practice. (Domain 2, Task: 0201, 0202, 0203, 0204)
- Explain diagnosis and the respective pathology to the patient (Domain 2, Task: 0203, 0204, 0205)
- Interpret clinical presentations and formulate appropriate referrals or treatment (Domain 2, Task: 0202, 0203, 0204; Domain 4, Task: 0401, 0402, 0403, 0404, 0405, 0406, 0407)
- Evaluate response to interventions, educate patient(s) appropriately, and refer for further evaluation, management, or treatment. (Domain 2, Task: 0204, 0205)

Mayo Clinic School of Continuous Professional Development is approved by the Board of Certification, Inc. to offer continuing education for Certified Athletic Trainers.
