Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize the difference  between fluoroscopy and Cine x-ray exposure rates to the patient.
  • Identify the table position and geometrical circumstances under which high versus low levels of x-ray scatter are produced.
  • Recognize the dose reductions to staff that occur with aprons, tableside lead drapes, and pull down shields and the importance of their use.
  • Use distance to reduce their exposure by stepping back during cine events.
