Session 10: Common Basketball Injuries

As the season opens for winter sports we will focus on the most common sideline and clinic injuries in competitive basketball players. In this CME webinar, Mayo Clinic experts will discuss the latest knowledge and recommendations for treatment of these injuries. Matthew M. Crowe, M.D., Assistant Professor of Orthopedics and Raul Rosario Concepcion, M.D., Assistant Professor of P.M.R. will review relevant anatomy, mechanisms of injury, and injury prevention. Both have served as Team Physician for USA Men's Basketball Junior National Team trips to Latin America.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Diagnose common lower extremity injuries seen in basketball coverage.
- Establish a framework for when to conservatively manage and when to refer common in-season injuries.
- Define the unique characteristics of basketball that make it uniquely high risk for lower extremity injuries.
