Session 2: Common Foot Fractures in Sports

Ankle fractures are a challenging sports injury. In this webinar, Mayo Clinic experts will discuss the latest knowledge and recommendations for treatment of these injuries. Edward Haupt, M.D., Senior Associate Consultant in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Mayo Clinic, will review the relevant anatomy, risk factors for injury, indications for surgery and recommended surgical options. Andreas Remis, P.T., D.P.T., Mayo Clinic Physical Therapist, will review conservative and postoperative rehabilitation considerations with the goal of returning an athlete to sport.
Target Audience
This course is designed for the PT, PTA, Allied Health, Physician, Athletic Trainer, PA, Resident/Fellow, Nurse, Scientist Researcher, and Nurse Practitioner.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Differentiate indications for conservative versus surgical management of ankle fractures.
- Compare various rehabilitation factors for conservative and operative management of ankle fractures.
- Explain appropriate functional expectations including timeline of recovery following ankle fractures.
