Many patients participate in scuba diving and various high altitude physical activities. In this CME webinar, Mayo Clinic experts will discuss the latest knowledge and treatments for various conditions associated with these activities. Tyler Schmidt, D.O. will be discussing the Altitude Medicine portion and Sara Filmalter, M.D. will be discussing the scuba diving portion of the lecture.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify the signs and symptoms of pathological conditions related to altitude (Domain 3, Task: 0302)
  • Demonstrate current management and preventive strategies for altitude sickness (Domain 1, Task: 0105 & Domain 3, Task: 0303)
  • Summarize hypothermia and related conditions (Domain 2, Task 0203 & Domain 3, Task: 0302)
  • Evaluate mechanisms underlying diving related illnesses (Domain 1, Task 0101)
  • Explain pathophysiology and management of diving related illnesses (Domain 3, Task: 0303 & 0304)
