Title: "Beyond NF1 and NF2: The Changing Landscape of Neurofibromatosis and Schwannomatosis"
Learning Objectives
Upon conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Recognize the updated diagnostic framework and nomenclature for NF1, NF2-related schwannomatosis (SWN), and other schwannomatosis subtypes, including the mosaic disease.
- Identify red-flags for MPNST in the setting on a known plexiform neurofibroma.
- Apply an appropriate diagnostic testing strategy using blood-based molecular testing, tumor testing, and MRI to distinguish NF1, NF2-related SWN, and non-NF2 SWN.
- Summarize clinical manifestations, current management and treatment advances, including MEK inhibitor therapy for NF1-associated plexiform neurofibromas and multidisciplinary approaches in the care of patients with NF/SWN.
