Mayo Clinic is offering an introductory point-of-care ultrasound course open to all specialties. This course has pre-work presentations for the attendees to review. The in-person section of the course is comprised of mini lectures to review scanning techniques. Under the instruction and direction of an ultrasound expert, course participants practice scanning technique and procedures using ultrasound. The spectrum of teaching covers many applications of POCUS including trauma, cardiac, abdominal, musculoskeletal, procedural, and more.

Target Audience
This course is designed for nurse practitioners, physicians and physician assistants.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Describe the basics of ultrasound machine operation and physics
- Demonstrate their ability to utilize ultrasound on both live and manikin patients with various clinical scenarios
- Utilize ultrasound FAST exam effectively in the initial evaluation of trauma patients
- Recognize when RUSH exam should be used in patients with shortness of breath
- Demonstrate their ability to utilize ultrasound to perform safer procedures
