Target Audience
This course is designed for nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, physicians, pharmacists, residents, fellows, and allied health professionals.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Describe specific considerations for the surgical patient with cardiovascular disease, along with the management of perioperative anticoagulation.
- Formulate appropriate treatment plans for common postoperative complications.
- Review current best practices and recent technological advancements in the operating room.
- Apply evidence-based knowledge and practical insights to enhance surgical care delivery and interdisciplinary team performance in the perioperative space.
- Recognize postoperative complications that contribute to significant morbidity as well as mortality in the surgical patient.
- Summarize best practices for preoperative optimization of the acute surgical patient.
