Pain Medicine for the Non-Pain Specialist 2017 - Addiction Medicine for Primary Care Providers Workshop

The disease of addiction is often misunderstood which contributes to bias, limited recognition and poor treatment. The neurobiology of addiction has been well established and is a way for physicians and other caregivers to come to understand some of the primary characteristics of this disease. Dr. Seppala will describe the main features of the neurobiology of addiction and how brain pathology drives maladaptive behaviors.
Target Audience
The 2017 course is targeted towards non-pain specialists of all backgrounds, including general internal medicine, emergency medicine, neurology, family medicine, physiatrists, psychiatrists, hospitalists, advanced-practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, and other non-pain specialists.
