This is the seventh offering of this intensive that gives participants a kind and careful framework for considering the provision of healthcare for patients with chronic conditions. Both minimally disruptive medicine (MDM) and shared decision-making (SDM) are heavily discussed during the course giving participants conceptual and practical knowledge of the topics. This six-day, in-person course contains morning sessions for lectures and afternoon sessions for practical lab training. The course materials include the Atlas of Clinical Fungi and Larone’s Medically Important Fungi. The content of the course is designed to equip attendees with the knowledge and practical laboratory skills to enhance and improve the diagnosis of fungal diseases. The topics include laboratory identification of mucormycetes, hyaline hyphomycetes, dematiaceous fungi, dermatophytes, dimorphic fungi, basidiomycetes, yeast and yeast-like fungi. In addition, fungal histopathology, MALDI-TOF MS, sequencing based identification and phylogenetic analysis, antifungal susceptibility testing, and PK/PD of antifungals are covered.

This course is designed to update physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and other healthcare professionals practicing clinical gastroenterology and hepatology about new approaches to the diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal and liver diseases. Faculty present data on multiple topics including general gastroenterology, inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal neoplasia, esophageal diseases, motility, nutrition, pancreaticobiliary disorders, endoscopy and hepatology. IBD symposium, will focus on several aspects of the care of patients with IBD, including dysplasia surveillance, managing psychologic issues, extraintestinal manifestations of IBD, microscopic colitis and mastering the prior authorization process. This symposium also includes several case discussions involving multiple experts. Concurrent lunch breakout sessions offering an extensive review and discussion of clinical topics. Video presentations on complex endoscopy cases and new technology are presented by expert endoscopists. Controversies in diagnosis and management are analyzed in panel discussions.

This advanced debriefing course will address the needs of simulation facilitators who are interested in improving their debriefing skills. Using a combination of interactive and immersive group work, this session will focus on enriching facilitation skills of the debriefers and provide an opportunity to reflect on their own practices for better educational outcomes. Enrollment is limited to encourage engagement of all attendees.
