Objectives: 

  1. Review hemostasis in the critically ill, including fundamental coagulation tests.

  2. Review the management of coagulation abnormalities in non-bleeding patients, with a specific emphasis on plasma transfusion.

  3. Discuss prothrombin complex concentrates and their role in the management of coagulation abnormalities.

  4. Briefly discuss point-of-care whole blood testing.
