  • Realize that IV fluid administration, while often appropriate, can be harmful and may increase morbidity and length of hospital stay
  • Discuss DYNAMIC vs STATIC measures
  • Discuss Ultrasound techniques and Non Invasive Cardiac Output Monitoring to assess changes in SV and SVV (Aortic VelocityTime Interval Respiratory Variation, Bioreactance®, ClearSightsystem)
  • Realize that there is no one perfect strategy to determine fluid responsiveness.  The combination of them is always better than one alone
