John Bartlett, MD  Professor Emeritus, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Belden, Mississippi. He served as Chief of the Infectious Diseases Division at Johns Hopkins for 26 years before stepping down in June of 2006.  Past President of the Infectious Disease Society of America.

Objectives: 

  • The crisis of antibiotic resistance and the ambitious CDC/CMS response to respond that will impact virtually all physicians who prescribe antibiotics
  • Molecular microbiologyu developments that are likely to dramatically change laboratory testing and pathogen tracing.
  • Important changes have recently been made in concepts about community-acquired pheumonia, C. difficile infection, hepatitis C management, six new antibiotics and three vaccine strategies.
