Learning Objectives ~ upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
- Recognize that the primary cause of the overdose problem is not overprescribing but rather the dangers presented by drug prohibition and the black market in combination with sociocultural/socioeconomic factors
- Examine how Supply-side solutions and efforts to restrict/limit prescriptions have exacerbated the overdose problem and fueled a surge in fentanyl/heroin abuse
- Conclude that solutions should focus on harm reduction measures as opposed to interfering with the doctor/patient relationship.
