Mayo Clinic Gastrointestinal Cancers 2020 - ABIM Reflective Questions

San Diego, CA US
March 5, 2020 to March 7, 2020

Reflection on improving your medical practice is an important aspect of your ongoing professional learning.

Reflection can help you to:

  • better understand your strengths and weaknesses identify your current practice
  • acknowledge and challenge possible assumptions recognize areas of potential growth
  • identify possible inadequacies or areas for improvement

Reflection can lead to greater self-awareness, Taking time to reflect can help you identify approaches that have worked well, and in that way reinforce good practice. It can also help you to determine how you can improve or make changes that would be beneficial in the future.

Reflective writing often requires movement between past and present tenses, depending on whether you are recounting the actual events or making a more general comment (for example, how to improve the doctor-patient relationship, or reflecting on an aspect of how you will take the knowledge you have gained and apply it in your practice).
