Algorithmic Approaches to Coagulation Testing: What a Hematologist Should Know 2015
This program’s overall objective is to inform participants about cost-effective, diagnostically efficient test ordering strategies for evaluation of prolonged screening clotting time tests (PT, APTT), screening and esoteric testing for the patient with bleeding symptoms, lupus anticoagulant testing, laboratory evaluation of thrombophilia and thrombotic microangiopathy, and pediatric coagulation testing. Using test ordering algorithms based on data derived from the Mayo Clinic Special Coagulation Laboratory practice and the literature, we will illustrate how costly and unnecessary biochemical, phenotypic and genetic testing can be avoided for the participants’ practices while enhancing highest quality medical care.
