Mayo Clinic’s Urgent Care Updates course provides acute and urgent care clinicians with the latest evidence-based recommendations across a broad range of medical specialties commonly encountered in urgent care practice. Designed to support immediate implementation in clinical settings, the course combines high-yield presentations, and case-based roundtable sessions. Participants gain practical knowledge, actionable clinical insights, and valuable opportunities to engage with expert faculty and collaborate with peers, enhancing their ability to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
Target Audience
This course is designed for physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and nurses in primary care, emergency medicine, and urgent care.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Apply a systematic approach to interpret elbow radiographs and identify common fractures, dislocations, and other acute abnormalities
- Identify clinical findings that support the diagnosis of acute otitis media and determine when antibiotic therapy is indicated
- Recognize clinical situations encountered during commercial air travel that require immediate intervention, flight diversion, or coordination with onboard and ground-based medical resources
- Apply a systematic approach to the evaluation of patients presenting with stridor to identify life-threatening airway conditions requiring emergent intervention
- Differentiate pediatric patients with minor head injury who can be safely observed from those requiring advanced imaging, specialty consultation, or emergency intervention
