This course covers death investigation instruction and advances. The focus on this year's program is child abuse in conjunction with forensic pediatric head trauma, evidence collection and preservation to ensure admissibility in court, and search and rescue best practices with use of cadaver dogs in mass fatality disasters.

- Determine and describe what unique evidence types can be submitted to the BCA lab
- Demonstrate appropriate evidence packaging and handling
- Describe autopsy findings associated with smoke inhalation and thermal injuries
- Identify populations at risk for child abuse
- Identify and plan approach for child abuse injury evaluations
